Misora Nambara led Republic in scoring three days in a row, and her ball-handling and defense weren’t bad, either. Nambara’s performance at the Nixa Invitational Tournament was a big factor in Republic’s championship run.
Over the weekend, Republic beat three state-ranked teams in a row: Cape Girardeau Notre Dame, Nixa, and Marshfield. Nambara scored 15 points in the opener, a tournament-high 21 points in the semifinal against Nixa, and 16 in the championship game against Marshfield.
In addition to her scoring, she made several key defensive plays in the fourth quarter to help Republic hold off a run by the Lady Jays with the tournament title on the line. And her ability to handle defensive pressure in the backcourt was a big part of Republic’s three-win weekend, as well.
Her scoring average of 17.3 points per game and her defensive play make her tournament showing our Performance of the Week.
