A slow start put the Tigers in danger of losing their second straight game at the Rick Taylor Shootout in Overland Park, Kansas. But Republic heated up, and it was Brenley Hagewood who led the way for the Tigers.
Facing a 16-12 deficit at the end of the first quarter against Ruskin, Republic scored 28 points in the second quarter — and Hagewood scored 21 of those points.
Hagewood finished with a season-high 32 points and made four three-pointers as the Tigers put together their best 16 minutes of the young season. Republic scored 62 points during the second and third quarters combined, and Hagewood’s red-hot night was our Performance of the Week.
