Performance of the Week – Republic Football & Fans

From the field to the fans, all of Republic was firing on all cylinders Saturday during the state semifinals. The Tigers knocked off Webb City 21-20, earning the team’s first-ever trip to the Show-Me Bowl in Columbia.

The Tiger offense set the stage with a 19-play touchdown drive that lasted almost the entire first quarter. The defense came up with a game-saving stop when the game was on the line. The coaching staff made adjustments when things began to look dire, allowing the Tigers to regain their momentum. And the fans provided the mental lift the Tigers needed to push through, with Ryan Cornelsen calling it the best atmosphere he’s ever coached in.

Put it all together, and the Tigers will play for a state title Friday against Cardinal Ritter — and it was our Performance of the Week.
