With the outcome of the district championship hanging in the balance, Republic’s defense shut down Lebanon to close out the victory. But even before that, the Tiger D had played one of its best games of the year against a high-powered Lebanon offense.
The Yellowjackets came into the game averaging nearly 47 points. They had averaged about 350 yards per game on the ground.
The Republic defense held Lebanon to 317 total yards and only 251 yards rushing. About one-fourth of that total came on one play — a long touchdown run by Lebanon quarterback Gavin Smith on the Yellowjackets’ first drive of the night.
Braydin Casey had eight tackles to lead the team, including a sack and two tackles for loss (TFL). Kendell Curbow and Cole Gimlin each had seven tackles. Curbow had a sack and a TFL. Gimlin had four TFLs. Garrett Lester forced a fumble, Cam Allen recovered a fumble, and the rest of the defense played solidly to help the Tigers hold on against a late Lebanon rally. Their combined effort is our performance of the week.
