Kickapoo outscored Republic 19-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 64-46 win in the semifinals of the Willard Basketball Classic. The Lady Tigers got off to a slow start and never recovered, dropping into the consolation bracket of the tournament.
The teams were evenly matched in the second and third quarters, with each team scoring 10 points in the second and 14 in the third. But Kickapoo bookended those even periods with quick and physical defense that Republic struggled to match. During the first and fourth quarters, Kickapoo outscored Republic 40-22. The Lady Chiefs made six three-pointers to Republic’s five.
Republic falls to 1-1. The Lady Tigers will play Saturday at 3:00 for third place.
