Woods Earns Offensive MVP Honors from Quarterback Club

Republic quarterback Wyatt Woods is this season’s area most valuable senior offensive player, according to the Springfield Quarterback Club. Woods was recognized during the football group’s luncheon Monday.

Woods is a second-year starter for Republic (8-2). He has rushed for 925 yards on 129 attempts, an average of 7.17 yards per carry. He’s averaging 92.5 yards per game rushing — despite have no designed run plays during Republic’s last two games. He has rushed for 11 touchdowns.

Woods has also completed 29 of 56 passes for 591 yards and seven touchdowns. And he caught one touchdown pass from James Rexroat during Republic’s 31-28 loss to Nixa.

Chase Hamme of Kickapoo was named the city most valuable offensive player.
