Republic Puts Away Pirates with Big 4th Set

At home Tuesday, Republic volleyball put Branson away with a dominant fourth set, winning 25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 25-10. The Lady Tigers picked up their 22nd win of the season and improved to 5-2 in the Central Ozark Conference.

The win is Republic’s sixth in a row over Branson.

Rilynn Finley had 24 kills to lead Republic. Alaina Norman added 16, and Addison Fanning had eight.

Reese Frey led the defense with 14 digs. Finley had 13, Norman added nine, Lexi Mitchell recorded eight, and Kaylee Cornelsen and Brooklyn Claxton had seven each. Claxton led the team with 33 assists, and Frey had 28. Addison Fanning’s two blocks led the team.

Republic has won two in a row, and 12 of its last 13 matches. The Lady Tigers are 22-5 overall. They will host Carthage at home Thursday. They’ll celebrate Senior Night as they wrap up the regular season ahead of district play next week.
