The Republic volleyball team overpowered Heritage, Arkansas, Saturday with a straight-set victory, 25-9, 25-13, 25-17.
“[We’re ] early in the season, still working out some of our kinks, but we’re playing pretty well,” said coach Allison Davis. “We only have room to improve.”
The decisive score allowed Davis to get all her players into the game and run some different plays as the team looks to continue that improvement.
Rilynn Finley had 14 kills to lead the team. Alaina Norman added six, Addison Fanning and Adison Gibbs each had five, and Reese Frey had four.
Brooklyn Claxton recorded 25 assists and Reese Frey contributed 13. Finley led the team with three service aces.
On the defensive end, Addison Fanning, Adison Gibbs, and Alaina Norman each had one block; Lexi Mitchell led the team in digs with seven, followed by Finley with six and Claxton with four.
The win improves Republic’s record to 9-3.
