Three of Republic’s tennis seniors led the way with a perfect day at last week’s Nixa Invitational. Republic earned two top spots at the Nixa Invitational tennis tournament — Mari Davidson secured the Flight One singles title, while Katie Teeter and Monica Henry took first in the Flight Two doubles.
Davidson clinched her title match with an 8-5 score. Coach David Smashey said, “the most complete match I’ve seen Mari play,” adding that she “closed the deal with three almost perfect games.”
In their final, Teeter and Henry also recorded an 8-5 win. “It got close a couple of times when Katie and Monica missed a few shots they normally make, but they didn’t let it affect them. Katie made some remarkably athletic plays down the stretch and Monica, as usual, made big serves on big points.”
Lilly Carlo also earned a medal, finishing third in Flight Two singles.
The medal-winning finishes for Davidson, Teeter, Henry, and Carlo earned Republic a share of the team championship, and they are our Performance of the Week!
