Lady Tigers Win Saturday Games, Finish Tournament 4-1

Republic softball won two games Saturday, finishing their Ozarks Fall Festival Tournament with a 4-1 record. The Lady Tigers topped Rolla in the morning, 6-2. They followed it up with an 8-4 win over Sullivan Saturday afternoon.

In the morning game, Addie Brown went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs. Lilli Richerson also drove in two runs with a 1-for-3 performance at the plate. The Lady Tigers scored a single run in the first and added three more in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. Rolla scored twice in the fifth, but Republic answered with two of its own in the bottom of the inning to make the score 6-2, where it ended.

Piper Dishman worked a six-inning complete game, allowing two runs — neither of them earned. She struck out eight, walked five, and allowed three base hits.

In the tournament finale against Sullivan, Republic put together two four-run rallies in an 8-4 win. The Lady Tigers got six base hits and took advantage of five walks and two Sullivan errors. Jenna Belcher drove in two runs. Kara Goeke got her second win of the tournament with a five-inning complete game. She allowed four runs — two of them earned — on six hits, striking out two and walking one.

Grain Valley handed Republic its only loss of the tournament on Friday. The Eagles rapped out 11 base hits in a 9-3 win. The Lady Tigers scored its runs on two home runs — a solo shot by Addison Walker and a two-run home run by Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs. Cass Ellison suffered the loss in the circle.

Republic finished the weekend with a record of 8-5.
