Republic won two more matches Saturday, beating Strafford and Bolivar the win the Liberator Invite. The second win of the day, against Bolivar, was the 20th of the season for Republic.
“They work really hard. They want to win. I think their dedication is what’s showing right now,” coach Allison Davis said of the 20-win accomplishment.
Republic swept both matches in three sets Saturday, beating Strafford 25-18, 25-15, 25-12. Against Bolivar, the score was 25-17, 25-12, 25-14.
Before the season started, Davis stressed the importance of building relationships between players and coaches, and at this point in the season, she said the relationships are evident in the way her players interact.
“They just love each other, and they want to fight for each other,” she said. “I think that’s what’s so important about our program right now.”
This is the second consecutive 20-win season for Republic. Republic finished last year with a 26-10 record. The Lady Tigers are 20-4 so far this season.
Davis said getting to the 20-win mark isn’t enough to satisfy her or her players.
“This feels good, but we want more. We’re greedy,” she said.
Republic has also won ten in a row. The Lady Tigers can extend the win streak at home with a big Central Ozark Conference showdown with Nixa Tuesday.
