Bulldogs Bite Republic in OT

Republic controlled the ball for much of the night, but it was Carl Junction that finally broke through in a defensive battle. The Bulldogs got a goal from Gavin Cowger about five minutes into overtime, taking a 1-0 sudden-death decision.

Both teams missed opportunities to score throughout the game, but Republic especially increased the pressure in the final ten minutes of regulation. When the Tigers failed to put the ball in the goal, Carl Junction capitalized in overtime.

The loss ends a four-match win streak for Republic. The Tigers’ record drops to 5-4. Republic plays at Springfield Central Thursday.
