Branson Drops Republic in COC Softball Battle

Branson scored four runs in the fourth inning and pulled away from the Lady Tigers in Republic Tuesday, winning 10-2. Republic only managed single runs in the fifth and seventh inning, despite out-hitting Branson nine to seven. The Lady Tigers left eight runners on base in the loss.

Branson junior pitcher Kaleah Morrison worked a complete game to earn the win. She struck out two and walked two. Piper Dishman took the loss. She allowed five earned runs — ten total runs — in seven innings. Branson had seven hits and a walk. Dishman struck out nine batters.

Paige Elsenraat had three of Republic’s hits. Sammi Watson had two hits.

Trailing 6-0, Republic scored its first run in the fifth inning. Lilli Richerson doubled to lead off the inning, then came in to score on a single by Watson. That made the score 6-1.

Branson scored four more runs in the top of the seventh to make the score 10-1. In the bottom of the seventh, Watson doubled and scored later in the inning on a double play.

Republic falls to 11-11. The Lady Tigers will host Carthage Thursday and will celebrate Senior Night after the varsity game.
