Two more Republic teams — tennis and softball — are changing their weekend plans because of forecast heat.
The tennis team will begin play at the Kickapoo Tournament Friday at 7:00 am, and play will continue through mid- or late morning while it’s still relatively cool.
The softball Lady Tigers will open their season now with a 7:30 pm game against Hartville at the Morrisville Tournament. The tournament had been scheduled to be played throughout Friday, but organizers pushed back the start time to evening.
If the Lady Tigers win their opener, they will play at 4:30 pm Saturday in the quarterfinals against the winner of the game between Carthage or Waynesville. If they lose their opener, they will play at 9:00 am Saturday against the loser of the other game.
The semifinal in Republic’s bracket is set for 7:30 pm Saturday. The championship game is scheduled to be played at 10:30 pm.
