Shutout and Steals: Another Win for Republic Softball

Piper Dishman pitched another complete-game shutout and collected two base hits to lead Republic past Marion C. Early on the road Wednesday night. Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs also drove in a run for Republic, which ran its record to 4-1.

The Lady Tigers struck first in the top of the third inning. Addie Brown led off with a double and scored when Paige Elsenraat reached on an error. Elsenraat stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Gerhardt-Hobbs. Dishman drove in pinch runner Madi Chevalier to make the score 3-0.

Republic tacked on two more runs in the seventh. With one out, Elsenraat was hit by a pitch and went to second on a groundout. Addison Walker struck out, but reached base on a dropped third strike. An error by Marion C. Early allowed Elsenraat to score and Walker to advance to second. She came in to score on a groundout.

Dishman struck out nine, walked five, and allowed one base hit in earning the win.

Republic stole six more bases, including two each by Emma Hoodenpyle and Cass Ellison. The Lady Tigers have 27 stolen bases in their first five games.
