Republic Volleyball Rallies to Three-Set Victory Over Rogersville

Republic’s volleyball team was within three points of falling into an early hole at Rogersville Monday night. Trailing 22-18, the Lady Tigers reeled off seven straight points to win the first set, 25-22. From there, they sailed to victory in three sets, 25-22, 25-11, 25-12.

From the final points of the first set, Republic controlled the match with its varied attack, led by Rilynn Finley’s 17 kills.

“The best thing about our team is that we have so many offensive options,” said coach Allison Davis. “Yes, we have Rilynn. We know that she’s going to get that ball down no matter what. But the cool thing about our team is that we can spread it and we can utilize a lot of players on the floor.”

Five different players recorded kills for Republic, including Alaina Norman with nine.

Finley also led the team in digs, with 16.

Addison Fanning also had a big night with four service aces, three kills, and ten digs.

“Addie Fanning worked hard tonight,” Davis said. “She’s a great communicator on the floor. She encourages the team on and off the floor, and she just goes all out all the time and that’s what we love about her.”

Brooklyn Claxton led the team with 21 assists, and Reese Frey had 11.

The win improves Republic’s record to 6-1. The Lady Tigers host Lebanon Tuesday.
