It was a busy first week of fall sports and some big numbers were put up during the week to kick off another year of Republic athletics. Here’s a look at some of those numbers and more in this year’s first edition of By the Numbers.

The number of rushing yards in Republic’s 20-14 win against Carthage last Friday, the first win versus Carthage in school history. The Tigers carried the ball 37 times as a team and averaged 7.4 yards per carry. Kanon Krol led all rushers with 122 yards on 15 touches and added two touchdowns as well.

Tackles for loss by Republic against Carthage. Logan Hunt, Evan Buchanan, Cole Gimlin, and Ryan Arthur each had one.

Stolen bases for the Lady Tigers Softball team through five games this season. Twelve of those stolen bases came in their 12-0 season-opening win over Hartville. That’s tied for the fifth-highest single-game total in Missouri history.

Strikeouts for Piper Dishman over her first 16 innings to start the season. She struck out 14 in a 2-0 win over Sherwood. On top of the strikeouts, Dishman has not allowed a run, and given up only three base hits.

Kills for Rilynn Finley in the matchup between Republic and Lebanon on Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers have jumped out to a 7-1 start, which includes a runner-up finish in the Branson Invitational last week.

JV tennis matches played between two of the largest girls’ tennis programs in the area – Republic and Nixa. The Lady Tigers outdueled the Lady Eagles 40-36 over the 76 matches.
