Two Republic golfers finished with medals at the Central Ozark Conference golf tournament in Carl Junction Tuesday at Briarbrook Golf Course. Jace Henry finished sixth with a score of 76. Cason Bekemeier shot a 77 and finished eighth. The top-ten finish for each golfer earns them all-conference recognition, as well.
After Henry and Bekemeier, it was a rough day for Republic golfers, who finished ninth in a 10-team field at Briarbrook. Brayden Tharp finished with an 88, Bryce Ondrick shot a 102, and Luke Heavin finished with a 103.
Carthage won the COC title by three strokes over Carl Junction, 308-311. Owen Derryberry of Carthage won the individual championship on the second hole of a playoff with Carl Junction’s Jack Spencer. They had both finished at one-under-par 71 after 18 holes. Derryberry clinched the title with a 30-foot putt.
