Cason Bekemeier shot a six-over-par 78 on the first day of the two-day Class 5 state golf tournament at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar. Bekemeier played well consistently all day — with the exception of one hole. Bekemeier’s eight-stroke 15th hole contributed to his tie for 42nd place overall after one day. (See photo gallery below.)
If Bekemeier plays as well on Tuesday — and avoids trouble on the 15th — he will have an opportunity to move way up the leaderboard. He’s only three strokes out of a tie for 16th place, where eight golfers stand at 75 through one day.
