Gracie Troester etched her name into the record book once again during last week’s Republic Relays. Troester ran the mile in 5:13.41, breaking the old school mark that had been set by Sherrie Dunn way back in 1981.
But that wasn’t the only record-breaking performance of the day for Troester, whose time in the 3200m run was overshadowed by her 1600m time. Troester had already owned the record in the two-mile event, but she set a new standard, finishing in 11:16.85. Since surpassing Audra Robinson’s 21-year-old record earlier this season, Troester has steadily shortened her time, and she now stands at 18 seconds shorter than the previous record.
Troester’s time in the 3200m is the eight-best of any Class 5 runner in Missouri this season. Her time in the 1600m is the seventh-best among all Class 5 runners in the state.
