Several Republic athletes are finalists for the Sports Commission Awards, presented by the Springfield Sports Commission and assisted by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Finalists for fall and winter sports have been announced, but spring sports finalists are still undecided.
Gracie Troester is one of six finalists in the Girls Cross Country category. Emmalee Essary is one of five finalists in softball. Ahlante Askew is among nine finalists nominated for boys basketball. Kaemyn Bekemeier is one of nine finalists for the girls basketball award.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for June 20 at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield.
