Tigers 3rd, Lady Tigers 5th at Willard

The Republic boys track team finished third and the girls team finished fifth at the Jason Pyrah Invitational in Willard Thursday. Each team won three events on the way to their top-five finishes.

Zion Allen was the standout for the Tigers, winning both the high jump and the long jump. He cleared 1.9 meters to edge Mason Ruckman of Willard in the high jump. In the long jump, his distance of 6.31m was about five inches more than Aaron Rice of Clever, who finished second.

Cooper Douglas continued to extend his own school record in the javelin. This time, he blew away his old best by more than two meters, throwing 51.47. That was about three meters longer than the second-place finisher, Azlen Metscher of Skyline.

Jenna Belcher won another long jump event, leaping 5.1 meters, topping the second-place finisher by more than six inches.

Alaina Norman won the shot put with a distance of 11.05 meters. That out-distanced the second-place finish by more than a foot.

The girls 4x400m relay team finished more than two seconds ahead of the field to win first place. The members of that relay team were Gracie Woods, Rilynn Finley, Molly Mason, and Alaina Norman.

Several other Republic athletes earned medals, and you can get full results here.
