Lady Tigers Take 2nd at SBU; Troester’s Time Crushes Record

The Republic girls track team finished second in a 20-team field at the SBU Invitational in Bolivar Monday. Gracie Troester crushed her own school record in the 3200m run, and the Lady Tigers turned in 14 personal bests.

Zion Allen highlighted the boys performances, winning both the high jump and the long jump again. His two event wins were the only ones posted by Republic Monday. Republic’s boys finished 11th.

Troester finished second in the 1600m run and third in the 3200m, but it was her 3200 that set a new record for Republic. She finished in 11:23.58, shaving more than seven seconds off the record she had set on April 5.

Three of Republic’s relay teams earned points. The 4x400m team of Gracie Woods, Alaina Norman, Molly Mason, and Kristin Probst finished second. The 4x200m team of Gracie Woods, Brooklyn Douglas, Alaina Norman, and Jenna Belcher finished third. The 4x800m team of Troester, Woods, Misora Nambara, and Probst finished fourth.

Second-place finishes also included Norman in the javelin and shot put, and Belcher in the long jump. Other third-place finishers were Kailey Manes in the high jump and Riley Brown in the pole vault. Fourth-place finishers included Rilynn Finley in the 300m hurdles and Cooper Douglas in the javelin.
