Lady Tigers Overcome Early Deficit to Beat Branson

The Lady Tigers soccer team came from behind on the road at Branson to grab a 2-1 win in Central Ozark Conference play. Republic got goals from Cadence Lugar and Kendra Phiri to overcome a 1-0 deficit.

Branson scored its goal around the midway point of the first half. Just six minutes later, Republic scored the tying goal. Molly Blades found Cadence Lugar, who put the ball in the net to tie the score 1-1.

The score remained tied at halftime, and Republic got the game-winner early in the second half. Phiri found the ball after a defection and punched it in to put Republic ahead. From there, the defense made the lead hold up.

The win improves Republic’s record to 6-8. Branson falls to 5-9. The Lady Tigers have won four of their last five games.

Republic will be at home Thursday to host Carl Junction and celebrate Senior Night.
