Bekemeier Finishes 2nd in Playoff at Carthage

Cason Bekemeier shot the best varsity round of his career, finishing second at the Abbiatti’s BBQ Invitational in Carthage Monday. Bekemeier and Harry Satterly of Joplin were tied through 18 holes with a 1-under-par 70, but Satterly won the tournament on the second hole of a playoff.

It’s the second year in a row that Bekemeier has played his way into a playoff at Carthage. Last year, he finished in a three-way tie with a score of 71 and finished second. Bekemeier had three birdies and two bogies on the day.

Jace Henry finished with a score of 85 for Republic. Bryce Ondrick shot a 92. Brayden Tharp shot a 93, and David Hayes finished at 104.

The Tigers finished with a team score of 340, finishing seventh among 14 varsity teams. Rogersville won the team title with a score of 306. Carl Junction was second (309) and Carthage was third (321).

For Bekemeier, the 1-under-par 70 is his best score yet. He shot 71 twice last year — once at Carthage and again at Fremont Hills, when it was playing as a par 68 course.
