Beckner’s Bat Helps Tigers Drops Dawgs

Gavyn Beckner stole two bases, scored three times, had four base hits, and drove in five runs to lift Republic to a lopsided victory at Aurora Friday afternoon, 16-2. Republic led 8-2 before scoring eight more runs in the top of the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

Myles Lozano picked up the win, working four innings and allowing two runs — neither of them earned. Andrew Schroeder worked three shutout innings to finish the game, allowing just one base hit.

Garrett Lester, Collin Myers and Connor Sandridge each had two hits for the Tigers, who out-hit Aurora 14-7.

The win improves Republic’s record to 6-6. The Tigers return to conference play Tuesday with a game at Willard.
