Tigers Jump in Latest State Poll; Lady Tigers Hold Steady Again

Despite suffering its first loss in two months, Republic took a couple of steps up in the Missouri boys basketball state rankings. The Tigers rose to number six in Class 6 in the latest poll conducted by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association. Republic had been ranked eighth last week.

If anything, Republic’s second loss of the season may have improved its claim to a higher spot in the poll. The Tigers lost by four points on the road at number-two Nixa Tuesday night.

Staley holds onto the top spot, with Oak Park at number three. Kirkwood and Lee’s Summit West are in the four and five spots. Behind Republic is CBC, Park Hill South, Troy Buchanan, and Rock Bridge.

The Lady Tigers hold at number three in the latest round of voting. Republic added another win over a state-ranked team to its resumé Monday, knocking off Nixa on the road. The Lady Eagles are ranked seventh in the latest poll.

Incarnate Word and Truman hold the top two spots. Raytown and Park Hill South are numbers four and five. Grain Valley is sixth. After Nixa, three Columbia schools round out the top ten: Hickman, Rock Bridge, and Battle.
