Tigers Rise, Lady Tigers Hold Steady in State Polls

Neither of Republic’s basketball teams lost ground in the latest state rankings released by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Tuesday. The Tigers rose from 9th to 7th in the new boys poll. The Lady Tigers remained at number three despite a loss to Park Hill South last Thursday.

In the Class 6 boys poll, Staley remains in the top spot, with Central Ozark Conference rival Nixa rising to second. Oak Park, Lee’s Summit West, Park Hill South, and CBC are in the third through sixth spots ahead of Republic. Kirkwood, Chaminade, and Kickapoo finish out the top ten.

In the girls rankings, Incarnate Word Academy, Truman, and Republic remain in numbers one, two, and three. Raytown, with an earlier loss to Republic, is fourth. Park Hill South, which beat Republic last week, moves up to fifth. Grain Valley, also a previous victim of Republic, is sixth. Nixa is seventh, Columbia Hickman eighth, Pattonville ninth, and Raytown South tenth.

Both Republic teams will play Nixa in two weeks. The Lady Tigers travel to Nixa on Monday, February 6. The boys will play at Nixa on Tuesday, February 7.
