Republic football player Conner Priebe has earned a spot on the Missouri Football Coaches Association “Hands Team” for his work in the community. Priebe is active as a volunteer with Special Olympics and also helps his family organize the Priebe Strong 1062 fundraising run in Republic.
Only 11 players in Missouri — in all six classes — earn a spot on the Hands Team. According to the MFCA website, “The MFCA Hands Team is comprised of Missouri high school student-athletes and a coach who make outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement and embody the true spirit of ‘teamwork’ and ‘giving back’ through commendable acts of kindness.”
Republic coach Ryan Cornelsen nominated Priebe for the honor.
“Conner is a great example of a young man that gives back to his community and his classmates. When I read about the Hands Team Award, immediately I thought of Conner,” Cornelsen said. “From what he and his family have done with the Priebe Run, to his active role in Special Olympics, he is a great example of an RHS Tiger who gives back. He is extremely deserving of this Award.”
