Manes Named to All-State Volleyball Team

Kailey Manes has earned a spot on the all-state volleyball team as selected by the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association. Manes was a four-year starter at Republic, and she’s the first Republic player to land a spot on the all-state team since Sarah Kreul did it twice in 2012 and 2013.

Manes was one of three seniors on the 2022 Republic team that finished 26-10. She led the team in hitting percentage (.306) and blocks (110). She was second on the team in kills (229) and assists (384).

Manes will play college volleyball at the University of Texas-Tyler, where she’ll be joined by fellow Republic graduate Claire Esther. During her time at Republic, coach Allison Davis said she was “one of the most coachable players” she’s known. “We needed her to start varsity (as a freshman) when we didn’t have a setter. She didn’t hesitate and didn’t complain.”

Manes also moved into a role as setter in her senior year, and again was willing to make the change for the good of the team.

“She’s one of the most consistent players on our team. I don’t know if she ever complained,” David said.
