Brady Purcell was the top Republic finisher in a huge field of runners at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia over the weekend. Purcell finished 58th out of 310 runners in the Boys Gold Varsity race. The event is run in the same place as the state championship later in the season and draws top programs from all over the state.
Kristin Probst was the top finisher among the girls, placing 66th out of 317 runners in the Girls Gold Varsity division.
Joey Mullins and Cannon Underwood both set new personal best times on the course Saturday. Mullins finished in 18:26, and Underwood finished in 20:08.
The girls team finished 32nd overall. The boys team was 27th.
