Republic led 7-0 and seemed to have its softball game at Carthage under control. Then it all fell apart. Carthage took advantage of several Republic miscues, scoring ten runs in the bottom of the third inning, then holding on for a 12-8 victory.
EmmaLee Essary hit two homers in a losing cause for Republic, giving her ten for the season.
