Griffin Frey is playing some of the best golf of his high school career at exactly the right time. Frey, who qualified for the state tournament as a freshman, lost his sophomore season to the COVID shutdowns, and barely missed the cut as a junior, is back in the field for 2022. He got there by finishing 5th among a large field of competitors at the district tournament Monday at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs.
Before that, Frey had finished tied for 8th at the COC Championship tournament at Branson, turning in the best score among Republic entries.
The Class 5 state tournament will be held next week at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau.
