If the season start for the Republic boys track team isn’t unprecedented, it’s at least extremely rare. The Tigers won their own Republic Classic against smaller-school competition to start the season – a relatively common occurrence. But they followed that up with a team win at the Branson Invitational. Although records are incomplete, that hadn’t happened for at least the past 12 years. And the last time Milesplit.com lists a boys track meet team title for Republic in a meet with larger schools is 2014 (at the Bolivar Liberator Relays).
In winning this year’s Branson meet, the Tigers more-than-doubled their point total from 2021, finishing with 166 points compared to last year’s 81.
