Republic golfers finished fourth at the Carthage Invitational Monday, just two strokes away from a third-place team medal in the 12-team field. The Tigers were led by Cason Bekemeier, who shot an even-par 71 to finish in a three-way tie for first through 18 holes. Bekemeier ended up second behind Carl Junction’s Jack Spencer after a one-hole playoff.
Republic finished with an overall team score of 323. Joplin won the tournament with a 308, Carthage shot a 309, and Carl Junction finished with a 321.
Republic’s Griffin Frey shot an 80. McCord Deken finished with an 82. Jace Henry shot a 90, and Brayden Tharp finished with a 98.
The Tigers will be back in action at the Willard Invitational April 21.
