The boys and girls track teams finished first and third, respectively, at this week’s Ozark Tiger Invitational. The boys team finished with 139 points to out-distance Marshfield (121) and Ozark among the top three in a six-team field. The girls team had 101 points, behind Ozark (148) and Camdenton (120).
Republic won six boys events. Landen Finley finished first in the 400m run, Ethan Haynes won the 1600m and 3200m races, and Trysten Hart won the shot put.
Republic also won the 4x400m (Devon McMillin, Will Fronabarger, Landen Finley, Miller Rountree) and 4x800m (Ethan Haynes, Derrick Buchanan, Will Fronabarger, Devon McMillin) relays.
The Republic girls won three events. Gracie Troester and Miha Nambara finished 1-2 in the 3200m run. The 4x400m (Aaliyah Vasquez, Gracie Woods, Alaina Norman, Kristin Probst) and 4x800m (Miha Nambara, Gracie Troester, Misora Nambara, Kristin Probst) relay teams were also winners.
The surprise of the night for Republic was Misora Nambara. Competing in the 300m hurdles for the first time in competition, she ran in the first heat and finished four seconds ahead of the other runners. When the final heat was complete, Nambara’s time was good enough for third overall.
