Just as she did throughout her career, Karissa Metzger finished her season swimming her best. Metzger put together the best performances of her career in her last appearance as a Lady Tiger. She shattered two school records and out-performed her seed in both events.
Metzger finished ninth in the 200-yard individual medley after entering the event seeded 13th. Her time in the consolation finals was actually the seventh-fastest of the weekend, and it was nearly three seconds faster than her previous best time, shattering the old school mark.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Metzger finished fourth. She cut .87 seconds from her time going into the state championships, breaking the school record that she already owned.
Metzger finishes her career with two state medals, which is also a school record. And her fourth-place finish is the best-ever for a Republic swimmer.
