Lady Tigers Overcome Slow Start as Bek Tops 1,000

It took 15 minutes for Republic to finally take the lead against Springfield Central. But once they did, it was a night of highlights. Those highlights included the 1,000th career point for Kaemyn Bekemeier, who needed 16 to hit the milestone and finished with 28. By the time it was over, Republic had a 63-37 win, its first of the season.

Republic didn’t lead until the final minute of the first half when Bekemeier scored to put Republic ahead 20–19. That was the score at halftime, but Republic looked like a different team after the break. The Lady Tigers went on a 26-2 run to seize control.

Republic plays Saturday at Kickapoo against Jefferson City at 2:30.
