After a fantastic start to the week, the Tiger soccer team suffered a disappointing end to its season in the district opener, a 2-1 loss to Joplin in the first round. The teams were tied 1-1 when the Eagles scored a late goal to escape with a victory.
Kickapoo beat Joplin 4-1 and Carthage beat Nixa 2-1 in overtime to advance to the district championship game tonight.
Republic closed its season with an overall record of 13-8-1. The Tigers had started 5-6, but went 8-2-1 over their last 11 games. They also won a share of the Central Ozark Conference championship for the first time ever, sharing the title with Branson. They had clinched the championship by beating Nixa for the first time in program history early last week.
Five seniors, Marco Donjuan, Markus Mitchell, Drake Lightfoot, Will Fronabarger, and Jabali Wanekaya, closed out their careers.
