Decker’s Volleyball Dream Leads to Kansas

Megan Decker has dreamed of playing college volleyball for years, and she’ll get her chance to pursue that dream at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas.

“I toured the campus, and I not only liked their program for volleyball, but their academic programs,” she said. “And when I met their team, they had a team bond that I’ve never seen before. They get along like family, and they told me stories about how everyone’s just happy for each other and are friends.”

Coach Allison Davis said Decker has distinguished herself by her attitude on and off the court during her time at Republic.

“She’s just an awesome person. Every practice, every game, she always gave 100%. What stood out the most was she was always positive, no matter what,” Davis said.

Davis pointed out that Decker’s work ethic allowed her to earn academic all-state honors the past three seasons, as well.

“Her type of leadership is to lead by example, and I think that type of leadership has gained the respect of all her teammates and her coaches,” Davis said.

Decker said she’s most “looking forward the experience of being able to go and challenge myself” against stronger competition at the college level.
