With a conference championship still within reach and a showdown at Nixa looming on this week’s schedule, it would have been easy for Republic to overlook Carl Junction (4-16) on the road Tuesday. So coach Kevin Hauck took his Tigers back to basics, and it resulted in a 6-0 victory.
“Our goal coming into the game was just to make sure we were keeping possession. We’re working towards districts, and making sure… we’re keeping our positioning (and) just trying to move the ball and getting our touches down a little bit better, and I thought we did a really nice job of that tonight,” Hauck said. “It led to a lot of goal-scoring opportunities and we were able to put six up on the board.”
Four different Republic players scored in the first half: Will Fronabarger, Mikey Argo, Marco Donjuan, and Santino Stiglenese. Donjuan added a second goal in the second half, and Jackson Kilburn scored just as time expired to account for the 6-0 final.
Republic’s JV team won 5-0.
The Tigers are 12-7-1 overall. Everyone in the Central Ozark Conference has at least two losses, so Republic (6-2) can clinch a share of the championship with a win at Nixa Thursday.
