Bryce Martin won two medals, and Seth Lock and Brady Lewis each won one at the Southwest Missouri Championships Saturday.
Bryce Martin blew away his old personal best (and school record) in the 200-yard individual medley. He finished third with a time of 2:03.78. That was nearly two seconds better than his previous best. Martin is swimming the event about five seconds faster than he did a year ago.
Seth Lock finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle, just slightly off his previous season-best time. Lock finished in 23.40. He had set a team record in the event Friday, with a time of 23.31.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Lock and Lewis both medaled. Lock beat his previous best time by nearly three seconds this weekend. He finished fifth in Saturday’s finals with a time of 57.13, but had set a school mark with a time of 57.10 in prelims.
Brady Lewis swam well off his usual pace, but that was still good enough for sixth. He finished in 59.53 in the finals after completing the same race in 57.66 during Friday’s preliminary heat.
Martin won his second medal of the day when he finished sixth in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 58.70. His time in the preliminaries was even faster, and at 56.71, it was a new school record.
In the same event, Lewis finished ninth with a time of 1:00.58.
The day also featured senior recognitions for seniors from all participating schools, including Lock and Martin, who have been with the Republic swim program since it began three years ago.
