Second Half Lifts Tigers Past Parkview

Republic scored two goals in the second half to pull away from Springfield Parkview at JFK Stadium in Springfield Thursday, 3-1.

The Tigers broke on top in the first half, when Marco Donjuan assisted Jabali Wanekaya. Parkview got its lone goal of the game later in the half, and the teams were tied 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Donjuan put Republic on top for good on a free kick, then scored again on an assist by Kleber Perez.

The Tigers avoided a letdown after their home conference win over Neosho Tuesday. The win moves their record to .500, at 4-4. The Tigers will have another big conference battle at home on August 21, when Carthage comes to town.

FARR BETTER PLAYER OF THE GAME

Marco Donjuan and Jabali Wanekaya handled the scoring for the Tigers, but it was freshman Diego Zuniga who kept things moving. Zuniga played a big role from start to finish, helping the Tigers control the game. “Diego is taking a leadership role as a freshman,” coach Kevin Hauck said of Zuniga. For his performance, he’s our Farr Better Player of the Game.
