Republic tennis kept its mid-season win streak alive with a down-to-the-wire win over Springfield Glendale at Cooper Tennis Complex. Elsie Crawford clinched the 5-4 win with a tie-breaker victory in the #1 singles match, winning 9-8 (7-5)
The clinching win was indicative of a night of tennis that was close from beginning to end. Glendale started with two victories in the three doubles matches. Ashlyn Leonard and Morgan Lewis won at #3 doubles to keep Republic close.
The Lady Tigers overcame the deficit in singles play by winning four of six. Crawford, Lewis, Mia Stan, and Izzy Wells were Republic’s four singles winners.
The Lady Tigers have won five in a row, not including the championship of the Republic Tournament last Friday. Another match against a top program, Springfield Catholic, is on tap Tuesday in Springfield.
Republic is 10-2.
