Promising Season Starts Strong for Republic Cross Country

The Republic cross country teams got off to a strong start at the first meet of the season in Bolivar Saturday. The Republic girls finished fourth as a team, out of 25 schools. The Republic boys finished 14th out of 32 entries.

The Lady Tigers earned three medals, led by senior Miha Nambara. Nambara finished fifth, with a time of 19:26.13. That’s 33 seconds faster than she ran the same course last year, when she finished ninth. Kristin Probst ran a personal best 21:25.64, finishing 23rd. (Full girls results)

Ethan Haynes led the way for the boys team, finishing in 16:59.55, a personal best. That was good for 22nd place, and a full minute faster than his time in the same event last year. Other top-100 finishers for Republic were Brady Purcell (69th, 18:27.74), and Cooper Davis (73rd, 18:35.08). (Full boys results)
