Mara Lakey had three base hits at the plate, and in the circle, she didn’t allow Monett to get even one. Lakey threw a four-inning no-hitter as Republic mauled Monett 15-0 Friday. Her three hits and three RBIs also led Republic’s offensive attack.
The Lady Tigers scored a single run in the first inning when Jenna Belcher walked, stole second, stole third, and scored on a passed ball.
Three more runs scored in the second. Jaci West singled and stole second, then scored on a double by Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs. Megan Heavin followed that with an RBI triple, and Ella Young singled home Heavin to make the score 4-0.
In the third, Republic scored two more to take a 6-0 lead, then they exploded for nine more runs in the fourth. The inning included a double and single by Lakey, a triple by EmmaLee Essary, and singles by West and Gerhardt-Hobbs.
In addition to Lakey’s three base hits, Republic got two hits each from West, Gerhardt-Hobbs, and Heavin.
Lakey struck out five and didn’t walk a hitter in completing her no-hit start.
Republic improves to 5-2. The Lady Tigers host Neosho on September 7.
