The Lady Tigers celebrated their seniors and moved a step closer to an undefeated conference season Thursday. Republic whipped Webb City 9-0, winning three doubles and six singles matches. Republic is now 8-0 in Central Ozark Conference play with one match remaining.

Before their sweep, Republic honored eight seniors: Corrin Allen, Elsie Crawford, Caydie Imbeau, Ryleigh Gilmore, Ashley Leonard, Morgan Lewis Abby McCord, and Mia Stan.
“They’ve been runner-up in the COC three times, and we’re going to change that this year, hopefully. They’ve won district championships twice. They’re the first team to get to the final four, ever in Republic history. Unprecedented stuff for us, and it’s because of the work they’ve put in,” said coach Dan Vales. “They’ve made a huge impact. We’re 11-2. We’ve played the hardest schedule we’ve ever played… Pretty much anyone who’s called us to play a match, we say, ‘Bring it on.'”
Republic’s win over Webb City clinched at least a tie for the COC championship, and they can win it outright with a victory over Ozark next week. No matter how the season ends, Vales said the seniors have earned their place in program history.
“This group has been amazing and we’ll never be forgotten by (assistant coach David) Smashey and I,” he said.
