Bats Silent in Loss at Webb City

Republic managed just two base hits in a 6-2 loss at Webb City Thursday. The Lady Tigers were shut out until the seventh inning, when they pushed two runs across the plate before the game ended.

Webb City scored one run in the second inning and three more in the third to take a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals added two runs in the sixth to make the score 6-0.

Mara Lakey and Ella Young had the only two hits for Republic. Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs walked twice.

Republic scored its only two runs without the benefit of a base hit. Six walks in the seventh inning forced home both runs.

Republic committed four errors. Lakey was the losing pitcher for Republic, allowing six runs – three earned – in six innings of work. She struck out one and walked one.

Republic falls to 13-8 overall.
