Both Republic basketball teams finished their holiday tournaments with 3-1 records Thursday. The Tigers dropped a close game in the championship of the Blue & Gold Tournament, losing 57-54 to Greenwood. Drew McMillin’s 35-foot shot just ahead of the buzzer hit the front iron to allow the Blue Jays to win their second straight Blue & Gold title.
The Lady Tigers blew out Waynesville 70-33 to finish third in the White Division of the Pink & White Tournament. Republic made ten three-pointers, including three by Savana Powell-Goodman. Kaemyn Bekemeier scored 18 points to lead Republic.
