There’s not much doubt the Republic swim team is peaking at the right time. On Friday’s opening day of the Southwest Missouri swim championships, Republic broke four team records, and all of its swimmers qualified for Saturday’s finals.
Bryce Martin set new school marks in both the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard backstroke. Seth Lock knocked down two records, in both the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. And Lock and Martin joined Easton Bruton and Brady Lewis in breaking the team mark in the 400 yard freestyle relay. In the relay, Republic knocked a whopping 7.67 seconds off its previous best time.
